3MTD Deck Belt Review  Apr 08, 2011
By D. Bussey
Belt is made in China. It looks like original replacement. Upon installing it, the blades turned without being engaged, because this belt was smaller length than the original. This required that the belt tention be loosened. The adjustment is a real pain, as you have a hard time fitting your hands into the point of adjustment. It would be easier to adjust without the deck installed, but who wants to remove that after they just installed it with a new belt. The price was much lower than OEM. You weight your time vs cost. Thanks China for the not so exact replacement.

3Questionable  May 18, 2013
By hawaiian snowman
Had no problem installing the belt and it fit perfectly, however after mowing half and acre the belt began to slip. I checked and didnt see any problems with the belt and why it was slipping. I began to mow again, then suddenly the belt slipped from the pulley and then ripped. Just threw it away and order a kevlar replacement belt which is working just fine with no problems.

1I went through two of these - the first lasted ...  May 21, 2015
By Jeremiah Church
I went through two of these - the first lasted one mowing of my acre of lawn. I thought I had the belt tension wrong on the mower. I replaced it with a second one and double checked the tension - it was a bit off - figured that would address my issue.

The second belt made it almost two mowings of my acre before it was dead.

I went down to the local big box and paid the 25 bucks for a factory belt - it looks a lot different than this one - kevlar wrapping on all sides instead of just on the 'back' of the belt. I'm 6+ mowings in with no signs of wear on the factory belt. Sometimes spending the extra money saves you money in the long run...

1Blades wont disengage!  Feb 05, 2014
I also had a problem with the blades not disengaging using this belt. No amount of adjusting would clear the problem. Also it wore out the blade brake pads.As you can imagine this could be very dangerous. I have a rocky mountain yard where there are areas I must disengage or the mower will eat rocks.I have returned to the original MTD belt.

4She tries to go top speed into the long grass like she is catching pokemon  Jun 13, 2015
By Pete Zahut
I am too busy playing video games to mow the lawn, so the wife takes care of it. She tries to go top speed into the long grass like she is catching pokemon. Instead the blades get clogged, the belt heats and snaps, and here I am wasting valuable video game time ordering a new belt....

But uh anywho, it fit perfect. Had to be broken in at first. With the blades disengaged the blades would still spin a bit. But after an hour or two it broke in and was much better.
